Laura spent her formative years growing up in Northern Virginia. Her early life offered a glimpse into the spirited and determined woman she would become. From a young age her passion for giving and growing as a person were evident. Laura excelled at everything she attempted and ensured that she brought others along with her.
Laura was the first one to volunteer for anything involving charity events. She ran numerous times in the 24 hour Relay for Life carrying a picture of her aunt, a breast cancer survivor. She has organized collections of food for the homeless and participated or led anything to help those who were less fortunate. She now focuses most of her charitable efforts on the Yahweh Center Children’s Village which is an organization here in Wilmington that houses and cares for abused children.
While pursuing her degree in Apparel Merchandising at East Carolina University, Laura held several leadership positions with the Apparel and Interiors Merchandising Organization (AIMO). While at ECU, Laura truly found her calling by combining her interest and skill at event planning and her dedication to raising money for charities such as The Battered Women's Shelter and the Family Violence Programs in Greenville. She was the event planner for three extremely large and successful charity events including a huge sold out event called the "Ripped, Torn and Fabulous" Fashion Show. She demonstrated her skill at working with small budgets and large - one event had a budget of only $100 but Laura's determination and persistence resulted in an event that should have cost thousands. While a senior at ECU, her club's reputation in the industry became well known which resulted in an invitation by a very large sponsoring corporation to come to Atlanta, Georgia and produce a fashion show for the American Apparel Mart.
While at ECU, Laura's heart became embedded in the soul of North Carolina. Although she returned briefly to Northern Virginia after graduation, it did not take long for her to follow her heart and move permanently to Wilmington. Since October of 2006, Laura has worked for Lazar Bridal Consulting while pursing her certification as a Professional Bridal Consultant, as well as assisted with the production and direction of weddings for the LBC team.
By March of 2007, Laura knew that her tenacious, organized and creative skills were a perfect match to negotiate the intricate and detailed waters of wedding and event planning and with a nod towards her whimsical side, Knotical Weddings and Events, LLC was born.
In choosing Knotical Weddings and Events, Laura will give her undivided attention to making your wedding or event realize all your hopes and dreams. Her vision, out-of-the-box ideas and tireless attention to detail will allow whatever you dream to come to life. She will become your creative voice, a lifelong friend, and your confidant; she will breathe life into your event...and she will give some of her fee to charity to continue her lifelong goal of giving back to the community!
